The unsolicited thoughts.Archive for August, 2008
I love mosquitos.
Actually, I am lying. Hate them. But I suddenly feel a bit sorry for them because they are so despised as a species. I can’t think of a more exclusively hated species. My theory is that they are not evil enough to have admirers.
The species that are known by some as truly “evil”, such as sharks, snakes (every snake wants to get me btw), scorpions, and other killing things also have fans. Mosquitos… not so much. They are just infuriating and annoying, and do not tend to elicit fear. I don’t see “Mosquito Week” replacing Shark Week” anytime soon.
No one talks about the beauty of mosquitos, the cleverness in the fact that the ones that buzz aren’t the ones that bite, the beauty in their slow glide through the air. People only criticize.
Tricking 10 year old boys
It was too easy. After buying the big bag of dog food I simply said “Who is strong enough to carry this?” And they argued all the way home about who got to carry it. I wish they had been there when we were unloading the car after going to the cottage. It’s kind of like having a sherpa.
Groceries, Gasoline, Guns, Guitars.
We pass this place in upstate New York on the way to and from my cottage, and every time I am surprised. I went in once because I could no longer resist, and even though I am all about gun control, I have to say that there was a little silver one was so pretty and comfortable to hold. Cute accessory in a completely twisted way. There was a room for the guns and another for the guitars. So weird. thought I would share.
Paris thoughts coming
I carried a little book around in to write in thoughts that I may have normally blogged or used for twitter or facebook statuses. Will post to the site soon.
Paris was amazing. Vermont was perfect as usual.
And now I am back in reality. Kind of.
